Classic Royal Icing has been around for years, and there is a reason for that. It is easy to use and creates a delicious icing that holds it shape, so it’s perfect for cookie decorating. If you don’t want to make icing from scratch, whatever you do, don’t buy it, but instead make the Worlds Easiest Icing. It is defiantly worth it to avoid all the chemicals, and it’s even easier than going to the store! But for all of you who have the patience to make this one, let’s get started!
Ingredients
4 cups, (about one pound) of powdered sugar.
3 tablespoons meringue powder
5-6 tablespoons warm water. (Adjust for consistency)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional food dye
In a large bowl, combine the powdered sugar and meringue powder.
Gradually add warm water while mixing with an electric mixer on low speed until the ingredients are combined.
Increase the speed to medium-high and beat until the icing forms stiff peaks (about 7–10 minutes).
Add vanilla extract and mix.
If needed, adjust the consistency by adding more water for thinner icing or more powdered sugar for thicker icing.
Ta da! Use immediately for decorating or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
